Penngrove, located between the cities of Petaluma and Cotati in Sonoma County, offers a delightful taste of small-town living amidst the renowned backdrop of Sonoma Wine Country. Despite its modest size, Penngrove's quaint Main Street exudes a vibrant energy, stretching just a few blocks but brimming with a diverse array of local shops, eateries, and inviting bars.

Once a bustling freight station on the Northwestern Pacific Railroad, Penngrove thrived as a hub for egg and chicken farming. The area was also known for its natural resources, including deposits of obsidian and petrified wood. Its distinctive soil, primarily composed of clay-like adobe, has been utilized for centuries as a building material. Notably, the Rancho Petaluma Adobe, a State Historic Park located in nearby Petaluma, stands as a prime example of adobe architecture. Penngrove also played a significant role in supplying basalt paving stones for major cities in the Bay Area, including San Francisco.
