Outdoor Learning

Financial Assistance Available!

Public lands and outdoor learning experiences should be available to all, irrespective of the cost, and FRC aims to minimize the financial challenges that keep kids from taking important field trips.

Thanks to the generous support from our donors we have created the Fort Ross Education Fund to offer discounts and subsidies to schools that would otherwise be unable to participate. We welcome teachers of all schools to apply!

Please consider making a donation today so that we can bring all students to Fort Ross to experience our diverse natural and cultural history.

What’s Available?

We offer discounts and subsidies for all our educational programs held at Fort Ross, and Salt Point State Parks.

  • Distance Learning Experiences (ELP DL) (MEP DL) – Interactive Education is essential to the health, happiness, and development of all our youth. Now more than ever, we need to experience nature. Together, we can bring nature & history to your home or classroom by providing an interactive trip to Fort Ross your students will never forget.
  • Environmental Living Program (ELP), a living history program that teaches 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students about the cultural history of Fort Ross.
  • Marine Ecology Program (MEP), a hands-on ocean-based citizen science, environmental educational and monitoring program for teachers, students and parents.
  • Educational Opportunities (Ed Op), for those groups that cannot sign up for a whole MEP or ELP, we offer Educational Opportunities that can run for one to four hours, delving into the natural marine ecology or cultural history of Fort Ross.

Fort Ross Education fund has received support from local donors, The Brenner Foundation, California Coastal Commission, and Fort Ross Ventures.
